The Belfast firm of solicitors which acted for Paratrooper Lee Clegg is suing five national newspapers and the BBC over their coverage of the handling of his defence.

The five partners in McCartan Turkington Breen have issued writs against the Daily Telegraph, the Times, the Daily Express, the Sunday Express and the Mail on Sunday. The action against the BBC also names Lord St Oswald, a former paratroop officer, as a defendant.

The actions arise from alleged comments concerning the firm's conduct of the paratrooper's defence when he was convicted of murdering the teenage "joy rider", Karen Reilly.
