Clare County Council has extended the deadline for submissions on the proposed Limerick Northern Distributor Road to March 12th, in response to complaints that people had not been given enough time to consider the plan, writes Frank McDonald.

The proposed 25km dual-carriageway would run from the old Dublin-Limerick road, north of the University of Limerick, crossing the River Shannon near Ardnacrusha and then onwards via Parteen to Knockalisheen, Co Clare.
