Operation Freeflow is ironing out the rush hour chaos and reducing Dublin city traffic congestion, according to the AA. Its Roadwatch development officer, Ms Lorraine Keane, said traffic flow outside peak hours had improved, particularly in the early afternoon.

She said traffic now "is being caught in the suburbs", and she welcomed the extension of Operation Freeflow to the outskirts.
