ATHENS - Greek environmentalists yesterday criticised Athens's attempt to host the 2004 summer Olympics, saying its proposals spelled ecological disaster instead of improving the capital's image.
The city's proposals to the International Olympic Committee fail to assess any damage to the environment or long-term effect on life there, the international group Greenpeace said.
