Judge James Carroll has retired as a judge of the Circuit Civil Court. On his last day in court on Wednesday Mr Sean Ryan SC, speaking on behalf of the Bar Council, said the qualities Judge Carroll had most exemplified were fearlessness and independence.
He said that among judges he would have been in the realist school of jurisprudence and would be greatly missed for his clarity and directness.
