PARIS - The Catholic church in France has dismissed a report that a visit by Pope John Paul II next month has provoked a wave of protests by young French people disenchanted with their church. The report, which said that a growing number of people were applying to be struck off the list of those baptised in France, was an exaggeration of the facts, a spokesman said.
