WASHINGTON - Leaders of the Southern Baptist Church, the second largest Protestant denomination in the US with 16 million members, yesterday voted to boycott Walt Disney and all its affiliates in protest at the company's progay and lesbian policies, Alexandra Duval Smith reports.

The boycott comes a year after the Southern Baptist Church warned Disney to stop its "promotion of homosexuality" in employment and marketing policies. The church argues that the company's policies, which include extending health benefits to samesex partners and holding an annual gay and lesbian day at Walt Disney World in Florida, amount to an "antiChristian and anti family trend".
