HONG KONG - Nineteen people were killed in a fire which broke out on New Year's day at a dormitory iii a Taiwanese owned factory that makes Christmas decorations in Shenzhen, South China, Hong Kong newspapers say today.

Another 37 people were injured in the fire which broke out at 3 a.m. in the factory's temporary dormitory in Longhua town, Baoan district of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, the reports said. More than 30 fire engines and over 120 firemen were called in to fight the blaze, said the paper.
