Child of Irish woman dies in Jersey fire

A Limerick woman is in a coma in hospital in Jersey after a house fire in which her three-year-old daughter died.

A Limerick woman is in a coma in hospital in Jersey after a house fire in which her three-year-old daughter died.

Fire fighters found the 34-year-old woman and her daughter unconscious in their home in the Jersey capital St Helier early yesterday morning.

Both were resuscitated at the scene but the child died in hospital last night.

Her mother was in a coma today in the intensive care unit of Jersey General Hospital. Her condition is described as “critical but stable”.

It is understood that family members from Limerick have flown to Jersey to be with the woman in hospital.
