LOS ANGELES A freight train carrying hazardous chemicals derailed and caught fire about 50 miles (80 km) east of Los Angeles yesterday.
At least one of the three man crew was killed, officials said. The fire sent up a huge toxic cloud and businesses, homes and a motel were evacuated.
