A man has been remanded in custody after he was charged in connection with a €200,000 heroin seizure in Cork at the weekend, writes BARRY ROCHE

Robert Garvan (30), The Paddocks, Mahon, Cork, was brought before a special sitting of Cork District Court yesterday and charged with three offences.

Mr Garvan was charged with possession, possession for sale or supply and possession for sale or supply of more than €13,000 worth of heroin at Cloghroe, Blarney, on August 14th.

Det Garda Peter Kennedy gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution and told the court that Mr Garvan made no reply to any of the charges.

Judge James McNulty granted the Garda application for a remand in custody and remanded Mr Garvan in custody at Cork Prison to appear again at Cork District Court today.
