Information provided by a former veterinary supply company proprietor regarding dealers and customers in prohibited animal remedies will be of assistance to the Department of Agriculture, Tullamore District Court heard yesterday.

Frank Deegan, of Tullamore, Co Offaly, had been convicted for possession of a prohibited substance for the purpose of sale or supply and had received a 15-month suspended sentence.

After a Department official said that information provided by the defendant would be of assistance, Judge John Neilan replaced the prison sentence with a 240-hour Community Service Order.
