Helsinki - Swedish and Danish treasure hunters in the Baltic Sea yesterday cut loose a first World War wreck and allowed it sink again after recovering thousands of bottles of vintage champagne and casks of cognac.

The salvagers had hoisted the vessel to the surface on Saturday and recovered 2,000 to 3,000 bottles of 1907 Heidsieck champagne and 14 cognac barrels before giving up a plan to save the blackened hull.
