Mrs Maighread Ui Mhairtin has been appointed chairwoman of Bord na Gaeilge/An Foras Teanga, one of the North/South implementation bodies set up as part of the Good Friday agreement.
An Foras Teanga will be responsible for promoting the Irish language and Ulster Scots. Sixteen members of the board are responsible for Irish.
