The Fianna Fail leader, Mr Bertie Ahern, has called for an immediate restoration of export refunds for cattle. A realistic compensation package should be negotiated, he said, now that the British BSE problems were being sorted out.
Speaking in Tipperary last night on the crisis in farming, Mr Ahern also criticised the Government's reluctance to pursue extra milk quotas for Ireland.
