Police in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, are appealing for information following the armed robbery of a cash-in-transit van earlier today.

Shortly before 4.45pm two men, one armed with a knife, attacked a security guard and outside the B&Q shopping centre on Mill Road.

The men then made off with a cash box containing a “substantial amount of cash”.

The security guard was left shaken but uninjured physically by the attack.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
