Cannabis worth €1.2m seized in Meath

A man (45) has been arrested in connection with the seizure of cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €1

A man (45) has been arrested in connection with the seizure of cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €1.2 million in Co Meath.

The arrest came after gardaí stopped a lorry on the M1 at Gormanstown at about 7am this morning during which the resin was discovered.

“This is a significant quantity of cannabis, which has been taken off the streets and it demonstrates An Garda Síochána’s commitment to targeting the sale and supply of illegal drugs," said Superintendent Joe Kelly.

The man arrested this morning is being held at Balbriggan Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
