ZAGREB - Mr Vlado Gotovac, one of two challengers to the Croatian President, Mr Franjo Tudjman, in next week's presidential election, is suffering from concussion after being struck on the head at a rally in the town of Pula.

Meanwhile, a mass grave containing the bodies of at least 57 people has been discovered in Eastern Slavonia. They are believed to be Croats shot by Serbs in 1991.
