Northern Ireland health officials moved to calm fears yesterday after two cases of meningitis, one fatal, were reported in one of the North's schools.

A 17 year old boy at Campbell College in Belfast was in a coma and "very seriously ill" in hospital yesterday after being admitted two days ago, the day after a 12 year old boy from the school's prep department died.

The Northern Ireland Eastern Health Board said the boys, both from Newtownards, Co Down, had different strains of the illness.
