WINDHOEK - Namibian police took 10 Bushmen to court yesterday for carrying traditional weapons at a protest over land rights at the Etosha National Park. Chief Inspector Ian Blow said the 10 were taken to an Outjo court and charged with possession of dangerous weapons - mostly bows and arrows but allegedly also machetes.

Up to 100 San people, widely known as Bushmen, gathered at the entrance to the park on Sunday to demand a return of their ancestral lands, now part of Namibia's foremost game reserve. Police used teargas after they refused to disperse.
