A new £4,000 conservatory leaked and wobbled in the wind and rain, a court has been told.

Judge Esmonde Smyth yesterday awarded Det Garda Gerard Roche of Murphystown Road, Leopardstown, Dublin, £3,600 damages against the builder.

Mr Oisin Quinn, counsel for Garda Roche, said the builder, Mr Noel Cullen, of New Ireland Windows and Conservatories, The Arches, Kilmacanogue, Co Wicklow, had not contested the claim.

The conservatory had been "extremely poorly" assembled. Another firm had been paid £2,800 to fix it.
