A former actor on British TV soap Brookside appeared in court today, charged with murdering a nightclub doorman who was shot dead outside a Liverpool pub.

Brian Regan (53), who played Terry Sullivan in the Liverpool-based Channel 4 drama for 14 years, is accused of the murder of Bahman Faraji.

Mr Faraji (44), a father-of-one, was shot dead as he left the Belgrave pub in Aigburth, Liverpool, where he had been socialising with friends on February 24th.

Mr Regan, of St Mary’s Road, Garston, Liverpool, was also charged with perverting the course of justice at Liverpool magistrates today.

He appeared in the dock at Liverpool Magistrates alongside co-accused Lee Dodson (42), of Logfield Drive, Garston, who is also charged with the murder of Mr Faraji.

Both men spoke only to confirm their names and addresses and were remanded in custody until a preliminary hearing at Liverpool Crown Court on April 18th.

A third accused, Edward Heffey (40), of Beloe Street, Dingle, Liverpool, was charged with murder earlier this month and will also appear at the Crown Court on April 18th.
