Kuala Lumpur - A Briton, David Anthony Chell (57), was sentenced to death by a Malaysian court yesterday after being convicted of heroin trafficking, a British High Commission spokeswoman said.

She said Chell would appeal against the verdict passed by the High Court in the northern state of Penang. Chell, a male nurse from Stoke-on-Trent, was convicted of trafficking in 189.86 grams of heroin at Penang airport in October 1998.
