One woman was knocked unconscious and four other people were slightly injured when two trains collided at Blackpool North station, police said on Wednesday.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police said a slow-moving train travelling from Manchester airport collided with a stationary train around one a.m. on Wednesday morning.

He said one woman was knocked unconscious, one had an injured arm and the three others suffered whiplash. They were taken by ambulance to hospital but their injuries were reported as minor.

"It is now a case for the Rail Accident Investigation branch to investigate," he said.
