British police are searching for a man in connection with two double murders.

A man fitting the description of Mr Mark Hobson, who is wanted for the murders of twin sisters Claire and Diane Sanderson (27), was seen near the home of James Britton (80) and wife Joan (82), who were killed within hours nearby.

Detectives in North Yorkshire have warned the public to stay away from 34-year-old Mr Hobson.

The bodies of Claire and Diane were discovered in the upstairs bedroom of a flat in the small village of Camblesforth, near Selby.

Mr Hobson, a binman who is separated from his wife Kay, has lived at the flat for three months and was reported to be the boyfriend of Claire.

Pensioners James and Joan Britton were killed just 25 miles away at their home in Strensall, York.

Police said officers were called to the house, which is split into a number of flats, shortly after 8 a.m. on Sunday.
