The Minister for Transport, Mr Brennan has said he has not yet approved any exit package for Aer Rianta Chief Executive Ms Margaret Sweeney.

Mr Brennan was speaking at the opening of the new Ashford to Rathnew bypass in Co Wicklow today.

Ms Sweeney announced on Friday she would be stepping down from her post having failed to reach agreement on her role in the future Dublin Airport Authority.

Mr Brennan said that the incoming board of the Dublin Airport Authority would be dealing with her termination package. He said he had not reviewed Ms Sweeney's package in detail, thought to amount to around €800,000.

He added that it would not be appropriate to comment further on the issue at this stage, given the complex legal issues involved.
