BIRMINGHAM - A protein isolated from the roots of blue bells and daffodils could hold the key to a useful AIDS treatment, researchers said yesterday. The protein, lectin, acts as a barrier between the HIV virus that causes AIDS and the immune system cells, a team of chemists told the annual meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science.
