London - British Petroleum yesterday announced that it would drop a claim for massive damages from the environmental group Greenpeace over a week-long occupation of a mobile oil platform off western Scotland.

BP said in a statement that it also intends to release bank accounts of Greenpeace and its officials after receiving assurances that the campaigners would not interfere with oil production west of the Shetland Islands.
