A boy whose ambition is to play soccer for Liverpool was awarded £10,000 damages yesterday for a fracture to a toe while playing on a building site. Mark Cossan, then aged six, of Castlegrange Hill, Swords, sued Manor Park Homebuilders, Killeen Plant Ltd and Dublin County Council in Dublin Circuit Civil Court.

Judge Diarmuid Sheridan was told friends of the boy were playing in a concrete pipe when it rolled over onto his foot, fracturing his big toe, on September 17th, 1990. The toenail was still discoloured.

The court heard an agreement had been reached between the parties to pay £10,000 in settlement of the claim.
