A PSNI helicopter was used overnight to airlift a teenage boy to hospital after he was injured in a farming accident in Co Antrim.

The 16-year-old was seriously ill despite receiving treatment from paramedics at the farm on the Liberty Road in Carrickfergus for numerous injuries to his upper body.

Local sources said the boy had been injured by farm machinery.
