A 15-year-old youth has been charged after police came under attack from a mob hurling petrol bombs in Northern Ireland last night.

Nobody was injured after the 30-strong gang confronted officers on the Stewartstown Road in west Belfast shortly after 9pm last night.

The 15-year-old was charged with riotous behaviour and will appear in Lisburn youth court on March 18th.

A 14-year-old boy also held after the disturbance was released pending report.

Police said calm had now been restored.
