Police in Belfast have arrested two people in connection with a shooting on the outskirts of the city yesterday.

A PSNI spokeswoman said a 14-year-old boy and 49-year-old man were detained on suspicion of attempted murder. The pair were arrested during the search of a property in the White Rise area this morning.

Two guns and a quantity of ammunition were seized during the search.  A British army bomb squad was called in and police  warned that homes in the area may have to be evacuated.

The arrests come in the wake of yesterday's shooting of a man in Lagmore.

The incident happened when four armed and masked men broke into a house on Hazel View yesterday afternoon and shot the occupant.
