Boy (14) dies after Cork crash

A 14-year-old boy died in hospital yesterday two days after being knocked off his bicycle in Co Cork.

A 14-year-old boy died in hospital yesterday two days after being knocked off his bicycle in Co Cork.

The boy, named by gardaí tonight as Jake O'Donoghue, was cycling with a group of friends at Drumkeen on the Bandon Road near the village of Innishannon at about 4.30pm on Wednesday when he was involved in a collision with a car.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead today.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them. Anyone with information should contact Bandon Garda station on (023) 8841145.
