Maybe you're not quite ready to abandon the grape - but you're happy to take one small step towards fresher flavours, lower alcohol? Try Tesco Alsace Pinot Blanc NV (Tesco, £5.99) - a lovely, invigorating wine that may fool you into imagining, just for a second, that it's the best mix of apple and grapefruit juice ever. Plenty of body and ripeness, but at 12 per cent alcohol it's significantly lighter than your typical New World Chardonnay (besides tasting much better). And that price! A January bargain.
