A new chairman has been elected to the Border Regional Authority which represents Monaghan, Louth, Cavan, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.

Mr Peter Savage, a Fianna Fail member of Louth County Council, was elected at the authority's a.g.m. in Monaghan. He defeated Fine Gael Dail deputy, Mr Andrew Boylan, by 17 votes to 12.
