Bon Secours staff call off protest

Unions have called off a lunchtime protest that was due to take place at Bon Secours Hospital in Glasnevin, Dublin, today.

Unions have called off a lunchtime protest that was due to take place at Bon Secours Hospital in Glasnevin, Dublin, today.

The move comes following an invitation to attend talks today at the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) in an effort to resolve the dispute over the pay cuts and job security.

Representatives of Siptu, the Irish Nurses' and Midwives' Organisation (INMO), Impact, and the Medical Laboratory Scientists Association will meet the company at the LRC at 2.30pm today.

Earlier, a planned strike at the Mater private hospital in Dublin was called off following talks at the Labour Relations Commission.

Members of Siptu and the INMO were due to take part in the strike starting last Monday.

However, the hospital said that it had agreed a basis for further discussions with unions that will take place over the coming weeks in relation to its cost savings plan.
