A bomb went off near a Shia Muslim mosque in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar this evening, killing at least 10 people and wounding 35.

It is thought that many of the dead were policemen and municipal officials.

The men were clearing the route for a procession of Shia Muslims who were preparing to leave the mosque in the crowded old city of Peshawar.
