A suicide car bomber blew up his vehicle at the entrance to a US military base north of Baghdad today, killing at least 11 people.
The bomb was in a black BMW car that blew up at the base near Baiji, an oil-refining town 180 kilometres north of Baghdad.
Hospital officials said at least two people were killed and seven wounded. Survivors said many other casualties were taken inside the US base.
A US military spokesman said 11 Iraqis were killed and 26 wounded in the explosion.
