A bomb exploded in a market in a town just south of Baghdad today, killing at least three people, but police said the toll could rise.

A source at a Baghdad hospital said they were treating 21 wounded from the explosion in Mahmudiya and had received three corpses.

Police had few details about the blast but it came a day after more than 60 people were killed by a car bomb in a market in Baghdad's Shia Sadr City district.
