British army explosives experts have made safe a "viable" explosive device at a courthouse in Coleraine early this morning.

The device was discovered in a hedgerow, and it is thought it may have been lying unexploded near the building for over a week.

Just after 1am today, the device was discovered and was blown up in a controlled explosion.

Eight days ago, an area around the courthouse at Mountsandel was sealed off after a warning that a device had been left, but security forces found nothing.
