THE body of a man in his 40s, with head and facial injuries, was discovered at a derelict house at Leitrim Street, Cork, yesterday. Gardai said the unnamed man was found on the ground floor of the building after the landlord had contacted them to say residents had seen vagrants entering and leaving it the previous evening. It is understood there had been a commotion at about 9 p.m. on Monday evening.

The Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margaret Bolster, was expected to carry out a preliminary post-mortem last evening. Gardai were last night conducting a detailed search of the premises.
