The body of a man has been removed from the Grand Canal in southwest Dublin.

The body of a man has been removed from the Grand Canal in southwest Dublin.

The man, who is believed to be in his early 20s, was discovered by a passerby near the Suir Road in Kilmainham shortly before 8.00am this morning

Gardaí said they were investigating circumstance behind the man's death and that the body had been removed to the City Morgue for a postmortem.

A Garda spokesman declined to say whether they were treating the death as suspicious at this stage.
