Bodies of mother and baby son recovered from Cork river

The bodies of a 29 year old woman and her 8 month old baby boy have been recovered from the River Araglin in the Kilworth area of Co Cork.

The alarm was raised by a member of the public at approximately 11.30am this morning.

Both mother and son remain at the scene awaiting the arrival of deputy State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster.

A post mortem examination is expected to take place this afternoon at Cork University Hospital.

Fermoy gardaí are investigating.
