Post mortems are under way this afternoon on three people found dead in a fire-damaged house in Co Kerry yesterday evening.

The scene near Ardfert is being forensically examined to establish the cause of the fire that killed a man, woman and five-year-old boy.

It is thought the fire started accidentally early on Sunday morning but was not discovered until yesterday after it had burned itself out.

The woman (27) and the man (32) were found a downstairs livingroom, while the woman's son was found dead in an upstairs bedroom. It is thought they all died from smoke inhalation.

A Garda spokesman said their names would be officially released today.

The couple were last seen alive when they arrived at the two-story house at about 4 a.m. on Sunday. Their bodies were discovered when a family member called at the house yesterday.
