A poet, a newspaper editor, a teacher and a stockbroker are among nine people appointed by the Minister for Arts to the new Caretaker Board for the National Museum.

Ms Barbara Nugent, chief executive of the Sunday Business Post, will chair the board, which also includes Mr Paul Murphy, editor of the Drogheda Independent Mr John F. Deane, poet and director of Dedalus Press Ms Una Hughes, a primary school teacher and member of Kilkenny Archaeological Society and Rothe House committee Mr John O'Reilly, senior equities analyst at Davy Stockbrokers Dr John de Courcy Ireland, a maritime expert Mr Sean Cromien, former secretary of the Department of Finance Ms Anne Kelly, director, arts administration studies at UCD and Mr Aidan Walsh, secretary of the Northern Ireland Museums Council.
