Ireland is not the only country to have experienced a blood scandal - in Canada more than 40,000 people were infected with hepatitis C. In terms of compensation, however, the infected Canadians have fared far worse in that half the victims were cut out of the eventual settlement. Now the support groups have finally done the sensible thing and brought in the experts. This week Positive Action's Jane O'Brien and Josephine O'Mahony flew out and were greeted at the airport by a media circus.
