Karachi - Pakistan's Hub Power Co (Hubco) said yesterday police had ended a blockade of its plant near Karachi which had prompted British diplomatic protests. Britain's National Power plc has a major stake in the $1.5 billion Hubco plant.

Pakistan has been accusing Hubco of overcharging the state utility Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).

A Hubco spokesman said the situation was now normal at the complex in Baluchistan and all of 35 British nationals there were safe.
