Novelist Chris Binchy has been selected as the writer-in-residence for the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown council area for the coming year. Binchy is teaching a free eight-week writing class in a project run by the council’s public library service and arts office, starting in October.

A spokesperson for the libraries said this was the first time a residency had been run in partnership with the arts office and the Arts Council of Ireland.

Binchy is also speaking at the Mountains to Sea Book Festival in Dún Laoghaire on September 10th.
