Stockholm - With less than a week to go before a general election, Sweden's Opposition leader, Mr Carl Bildt, is the first choice for prime minister, but his party is still behind the ruling Social Democrats, according to opinion polls.

An SIFO poll in the Svenska Dagbladet daily showed 43 per cent would choose Mr Bildt over the Prime Minister, Mr Goran Persson, who stands at 39 per cent.
