MILAN - A court in Milan yesterday rejected a defence motion seeking the adjournment of the corruption trial involving the former prime minister Mr Silvio Berlusconi because of campaigning for elections on April 21st.

The adjournment had been sought by the lawyer for a codefendant of Mr Berlusconi. The former prime minister, leader of the right wing alliance contesting the election, said on Tuesday that he wanted his trial to go ahead without a delay.
